spotlight on: kona grill happy hour

May I just preface this post with a little note: I am a bargain hunter. No, I couldn't be featured on Extreme  Couponing (although I did save approximately $12 with coupons on my last Target purchase!), but I collect Groupons like they're tchotchkes, I can't resist a good deal, I use Ebates every time I shop online, and I am constantly on the hunt for a good happy hour.

Which brings us today's Spotlight On featuring Kona Grill.

You can easily find your closest Kona Grill right here. Once you type in your zip code and click enter, you'll see a handy map. Click on details next to your chosen location, and you will see the restaurant's hours, including their happy hours! Some will even have reverse happy hour in case you can't just skip off work at 3 pm (in which case, what were you thinking getting a job that makes you miss happy hour?!)

If you're in Baton Rouge like me, you can find a lovely KG at Perkins Rowe (love that place, don't you?). Here's their bar happy hours*:
Mon - Fri 3pm - 7pm
Mon - Thurs 9pm - 11pm (Reverse happy hour, woohoo!)
Fri - Sat 10pm - 12am (Reverse happy hour on Fridays and Saturdays?! Unheard of!)
Sat 1pm - 5pm
*Yes, you must sit in the bar. This includes the lovely outdoor patio at my KG, which is kind of awesome with super nice weather like today's. If you are under 21, I think you can still take advantage of HH -- this is based on witnessing some kiddos getting drunk eating dessert with their parents in the bar area.

So what's the deal? Half price some appetizers, some appetizers discounted for $6, and some pretty inexpensive drink specials. There's a ladies' margarita for $3.50, another margarita for $4.50, and the cosmos, beer, etc. are cheaper than usual.

My favorite? The crab crunch roll (half off makes it around $3). I also love the margherita flatbread (around $5) and pot stickers (around $5). The avocado eggroll (around $5) left me disappointed -- doesn't it sound like it'd be awesome?! They even look awesome (see below). Well, mine weren't flavorful enough, so boo on them. I may try making my own based on this recipe, because I think the idea is pretty solid.

Anyway, if you are looking for something to do in Baton Rouge (or Houston - the Galleria has a great KG!), I would highly recommend checking out KG's HH (check out that double abbrev!). I go there when I'm at Perkins Rowe if I want a bite to eat, but I am planning a separate trip with some friends some weekend soon. It's just that good. When I try a drink, I will report back with my review! Enjoy and let me know if you like it!
